St. Vincent of Lerins on how to Navigate a Church Crisis

By |2021-11-09T22:41:47+00:00November 11th, 2021|Theology|

Many Catholics think that "Catholic" means "universal," and they are correct, but they make the mistake of thinking this is universal not through history but just today in this current Church crisis.   We look to the great saint and doctor of the Church of the 5th century, St. Vincent of Lerins, for how to navigate a Church crisis when many bishops believe and teach different things.  St. Vincent of Lerins was one of the very, very few bishops who fought against the global 5th century heresy of Arianism believed by 99% of the bishops of his day.  We will see below in his writings why "Catholic" does not mean [...]

Thoughts on “The Restrainer”

By |2021-11-07T14:29:54+00:00November 9th, 2021|Theology|

And you know what is restraining him now so that he may be revealed in his time. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. Only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will kill with the breath of His mouth and bring to nothing by the appearance of His coming. The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and [...]

A “different” church is a “false” church

By |2021-10-17T13:31:28+00:00October 19th, 2021|Theology|

We traditionalists often use the term "Remnant Church" to refer to other traditionalist Catholics.   Similarly, we may use terms against the modernists like "parallel church" or "false church" or "eclipsed church" or "counterfeit church." Of course, we all know that at the end of the day, that there can be only one Church, for Christ can have only one spouse, the Catholic Church: "Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the Church and gave Himself up for her, that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the Church to Himself in splendor."—Eph 5:25-27a. Archbishop Viganò uses [...]

The Maccabees, the TLM and the “Vaccine”

By |2021-10-14T14:40:41+00:00October 14th, 2021|Theology|

Who were the Maccabees? Dr. Taylor Marshall writes here:  The “Maccabees,” or more properly the Hasmoneans, were a Jewish priestly family that led the just rebellion against the Greco-Syrians under Antiochus IV Epiphanes in the second century before Christ. The Maccabees were led by Mathathias and then by his third son Judas “Maccabeus.” The nickname comes from the Aramaic maccaba meaning “hammer.” So his name was “Judas the Hammer.” The nickname “Maccaba” was extended to the entire family and descendants of Mathathias. The nickname, no doubt, refers to Judas’ “hammering” of the enemies of God in battle. The true patronymic of the family was Hasmonean.  In 1 Maccabees, the pagan [...]

Self-Incriminating Struggle Session

By |2021-10-12T14:40:16+00:00October 12th, 2021|Theology|

The man at the top right is Jack Posobiec.  He is a 35 year old husband and father and a Traditional Latin Mass Catholic.  He learned Mandarin and lived in China working for the US Chamber of Commerce.  He was also in the Navy including several tours as well as serving for the Office of Naval Intelligence.  Jack now has 1.4M followers on Twitter, mostly conservatives like him.  Recently, on a podcast, he was describing tactics of the Chinese communists, including "struggle sessions."  In a "struggle session," a person convicted of thought crimes against communism was frequently to incriminate himself by confessing the "sins" against a state in a struggle-session. To Banish the TLM to the Catacombs

By |2021-10-05T04:03:41+00:00October 7th, 2021|Theology|

Recently, I heard a middle-aged exorcist give a talk about how all the elderly exorcists in the world agree that something happened in 1963 that tanked the power of the Church in exorcisms.  The middle-aged exorcist did not say what this event was.  I asked his friend, and his friend suspected it was this event that happened in 1963, reported even [barely] by Wikipedia:  "Windswept House describes a satanic ritual – the enthronement of Lucifer – taking place at Saint-Paul's Chapel inside Vatican City, on June 29, 1963. The book gives a depiction of high-ranking churchmen, cardinals, archbishops and prelatees of the Roman curia, taking oaths signed with their own [...]

Dream of a Restored Church

By |2021-10-03T19:49:54+00:00October 5th, 2021|Theology|

I frequently think that the return of Christ may be imminent, especially since it seems much of Matthew 24 has been fulfilled in the past 100 years and how much of 2 Thess 2 has been fulfilled in the past 10 years.  But a dream (literally a dream) this past week pumped the breaks on that expectation.  I decided against writing that entire dream here in my blog, and I certainly don't claim it was a private revelation, but I can say that the joy, peace, truth, love and light in the life of Catholics in that dream reminded me of the following approved private revelations on the restoration of [...]

My Servant, Who Suffers a Great Deal for the Faith

By |2022-04-14T01:30:10+00:00September 30th, 2021|Theology|

Guest Author: Andromeda Prologue: Until today, I had never heard of Professor Albert Drexel (1889-1997). He was born in Hohenems, in the Voralberg Province of Austria and was the third of five brothers, who, like him, were all priests. He was ordained in 1914. He held three doctorates in philology (i.e. study of language, strongly connected to the study of etymology). A week or so ago, I had started to formulate a desire to implore help from The Mother of God, namely, in the form of a visible sign that I could clearly understand. Knowing the seriousness of such a favor, and with childlike hope, I let it sit, and [...]

‘The Prophesy of St. Francis’ and the ‘Franciscans of the Immaculate’

By |2021-10-04T15:12:27+00:00September 23rd, 2021|Theology|

This is a prophesy of St. Francis of Assisi.  Notice it is sourced at the end: “Act bravely, my brethren; take courage and trust in the Lord. The time is fast approaching in which there will be great trials and afflictions; perplexities and dissensions, both spiritual and temporal, will abound; the charity of many will grow cold, and the malice of the wicked will increase. The devils will have unusual power; the immaculate purity of our Order, and of others, will be so much obscured that there will be very few Christians who obey the true Supreme Pontiff and the Roman Church with loyal ears and perfect charity. “At the [...]

Rivers of Living Water

Et sustínui qui simul contristarétur, et non fuit: et qui consolarétur, et non invéni.—Ps 68:21 Many people ask me with our crisis in the Church, "What are we to do?"  At the risk of sounding saccharine-sweet, I'm going to propose that one of the best things you can do is to give your heart to Jesus to let His heart break in yours here on earth over the state of the Church.  If St. Teresa of Avila wrote, "Christ has no hands but yours; Christ has no feet but yours," and since we know that Saul (before becoming Paul) in persecuting the Church was literally persecuting Christ-Himself (cf. Acts 9:4) [...]
