Sr. Lucy of Fatima and Russia Part 1
Here are some letters from Sr. Lucy, the visionary of Our Lady of Fatima:
Here are some letters from Sr. Lucy, the visionary of Our Lady of Fatima:
Then He said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home.—Jn 19:27 Even though Sacred Tradition outside Scripture proposes some accounts of Apostles having wavering courage after Pentecost (for example, the famous story of St. Peter fleeing Rome under persecution as Christ appears to him to say Quo Vadis? at which point Peter returns to Rome to be crucified) we know that for the most part, the pre-Pentecost Apostles have numerous failures in courage whereas the post-Pentecost Apostles have nearly unchecked success in their cooperation with the Holy Spirit's gift of fortitude as 11 of the 12 of them approach [...]
Et sustínui qui simul contristarétur, et non fuit: et qui consolarétur, et non invéni.—Ps 68:21 Many people ask me with our crisis in the Church, "What are we to do?" At the risk of sounding saccharine-sweet, I'm going to propose that one of the best things you can do is to give your heart to Jesus to let His heart break in yours here on earth over the state of the Church. If St. Teresa of Avila wrote, "Christ has no hands but yours; Christ has no feet but yours," and since we know that Saul (before becoming Paul) in persecuting the Church was literally persecuting Christ-Himself (cf. Acts 9:4) [...]
What did Our Lady in the 16th century predict for the 20th century? What words of encouragement did she have? On Holy Trinity Sunday, every traditional priest reads the Athanasian Creed during Prime. Prime is the third canonical hour of his Divine Office (Roman Breviary) of the day. What struck me while reading this in Latin was this line: Deus est ex substántia Patris ante sǽcula génitus: et homo est ex substántia matris in sǽculo natus. This is translated as: God, of the Substance of the Father, Begotten before the worlds: and Man, of the substance of His mother, born in the world. St. Athanasius in his 4th century Creed of Trinity (against the Arians) is asserting that Jesus Christ is the second person of the Trinity who is consubstantial [...]
https://youtu.be/Fo4Ge3FMrDM A couple possible objections to my Pentecost video... First, didn't Pope John XXIII's promise of a New Pentecost come true in the Eastern Hemisphere? The New Pentecost seems to be a dud since "the numbers tanked," as I said in the video. At this point, a fair counter to the above would be: "Ah yes, Fr. David, the numbers of Catholics greatly dropped in North America and South America since Vatican II, but the numbers of Catholics in Africa and Asia increased. Doesn't this prove the New Pentecost?" I admit this is a very strong retort. However, my retort to the retort is equally simple: The good bishops of Africa and Asia [...]
Section A: The Scene The Chosen is a streaming video series on the life of Our Lord Jesus Christ with record-breaking viewership. They did a decent job in Season 1, but a scene found in Season 2, Episode 3 has major blasphemy against the Mother of Jesus. In this scene, a female disciple of Jesus named Rama is sitting next to Mother Mary and expresses her concern about how to know and follow Jesus in a better way. (As St. Mary Magdalene is also in this scene, I will refer to the mother of Jesus below as "Mother Mary.") Rama says, “I feel like I need to not make anymore [...]
Should lay people pray the Roman Breviary? As far as the old-school Roman Breviary as found in the featured image above, I would say no. Why would I say no? Because it is 8 "canonical hours" of the Psalms on repeat all day long and most of us pray it in Latin. It takes 2-3 hours a day and we pray all 150 Psalms a week in Latin. 2-3 hours of Latin prayers is appropriate for a hermit like me, but probably not for a lay person like most of you. However, if you insist on a couple of the old-school canonical hours, there is a good app that has [...]
