This evening, on the 13th of July 2024, President Trump was shot in the ear at a rally in Butler, PA.  It was obviously a failed assassination attempt.  Trump got up triumphantly as seen in the picture above.  One America News reports:  “Butler county district attorney Richard Goldinger said the shooter is dead after injuring former President Trump, killing one audience member and injuring another in the shooting.”

Here’s the most important tweets I have seen so far:

Here’s some of my thoughts, admittedly early in this developing story:

First of all, I don’t think this was staged as a publicity stunt to make Trump into a quasi-martyr.  Nobody would volunteer to get killed (as the shooter was) and you can’t hit someone’s ear from that far away.  What will we discover about the shooter?  Well, if he’s CIA trained, he’ll be billed as a white-supremacist, but the left still can’t put the toothpaste back into the tube that a bloodied man (Trump) just got up after being shot and said “Fight, fight!”  As in:  “Fight, fight for America…” Yes, the bad guys really cooked their own goose today.

If they had “successfully” killed Trump, conservatives would be outraged, yes…for a short time.  We live in a fast news-cycle, and in a week Republicans would be looking for their next man (or woman) to run on the Republican ticket.  But Trump rising up bloodied after being shot with fist pumps in the air under an American flag will get even the most weak-kneed, hand-wringing conservative behind him.  And I have to admit, I am one of them.

Whoever sent someone to kill Trump was not banking on this happening, I assure you.  (I put on Twitter that he was obviously a Democrat since he missed.  I know, too soon, too soon.)  But I really believe God saved Trump’s life because there is no reason he should be alive, naturally.  There had to have been supernatural intervention.  Like all brushes with death, a man will always re-evaluate his life.  Do I hope this brush with death makes Trump reconsider his views on abortion and LGBT issues?  Of course I do.  But today’s not the day for preaching, even though half of you expect me to preach to him.  We’ll pray God change the mind of President Donald Trump.  (Obama and Clinton are still referred to as “President,” not “Former President” so I have no problem writing that of Trump for that reason and the fact it was a stolen election.)

The CIA was not planning on a missed assassination today.  Matt Walsh tweeted: “Biden called the attempted assassination of Donald Trump ‘not appropriate.’ Those are the strongest words he can muster.”  He’s correct.  Then, my friend texted me:  “Man, when are they gonna learn?  God always wins.  Always.”  The person who texted that to me not a die-hard Trump fan.  But we all have to admit something divine happened today, so let’s pray hard for Trump.

Could that indication of death over Marxism have something to do with the fact today is the anniversary of the Third Apparition of Fatima in 1917?  EWTN writes: “As the July date approached Lúcia continued to be troubled by the words of her pastor that the devil might be behind the apparitions. Finally, she confided to Jacinta that she intended not to go. When the day finally dawned, however, her fears and anxieties disappeared, so that the noon hour found her in the Cova with Jacinta and Francisco, awaiting the arrival of the beautiful Lady.”

EWTN then recounts the words of the Mother of God: “To prevent this, I shall come to the world to ask that Russia be consecrated to my Immaculate Heart, and I shall ask that on the First Saturday of every month Communions of reparation be made in atonement for the sins-of the world. If my wishes are fulfilled, Russia will be converted and there will be peace; if not, then Russia will spread her errors throughout the world, bringing new wars and persecution of the Church; the good will be martyred and the Holy Father will have much to suffer; certain nations will be annihilated. But in the end my Immaculate Heart will triumph. “
