As most of you know, I have been arrested for peacefully praying and counseling inside abortion centers in NJ and DC.  I do this with a group called Red Rose Rescue (RRR) that my friend Will Goodman wrote about on my website here not long ago.  A “rescue” is a group act to directly save lives in immediate danger by remaining in a killing center to intervene inside with peaceful prayer and calm counseling.

There was a rescue in 2020 not associated with RRR but with some of the same people including my friends Will and Lauren.  The FBI went after them today.  Although Will is homeless (and therefore hard to pin down) he texted me this about his friends who were arrested for that 2020 rescue with him and Lauren:

“My friend Jonathan Darnel had his door kicked down at 5am.  And my friend Paulette Harlow, a 73 year old grandmother with health conditions, ‘required’ 3 or more big shiney government SUVs with FBI agents to bring her in!”

He gave me permission to share that text in this blog.

This was to execute an indictment for a 2020 rescue where the Washington DC Department of Justice (see below) accused them of blocking entrance to the clinic.  While I do not doubt that Will and Lauren were praying inside of an abortion mill, I am sure that the following press-release from the US government is false in at least this accusation:  “Goodman and Bell forcefully entered the clinic and set about blockading two clinic doors using their bodies, furniture, chains and ropes.”  It’s a little bit humorous:  I know Will Goodman in real life, and he would not forcefully enter a refrigerator if he were hungry, so great is his Franciscan spirit of peace.

But neither would Will and Lauren sit by while children are murdered, either.  So, where I do not doubt they were found praying outside and even inside an abortion facility, I believe there is exaggeration in the charges to as to make the perpetrators look like victims in this upside-down-world we live in.  Simply for attempting to stop the greatest genocide in world history, the US government now threatens them:  “If convicted of the offenses, the defendants each face up to a maximum of 11 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $350,000.”

I know suffering always comes our way in Lent.  So, where I am sure that the FBI showing up with guns drawn probably startled them, Will and Lauren know what to do with this redemptive suffering.  They will offer this up for the end of abortion.

Here’s the press release, ironically from the Department of “Justice:”

WASHINGTON – Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke for the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division and U.S. Attorney Matthew M. Graves for the District of Columbia today announced a two-count indictment charging Lauren Handy, 28, of Alexandria, Virginia; Jonathan Darnel, 40, of Arlington, Virginia, Jay Smith, 32, of Freeport, New York; Paulette Harlow, 73, of Kingston, Massachusetts; Jean Marshall, 72, of Kingston, Massachusetts; John Hinshaw, 67, of Levittown, New York; Heather Idoni, 61, of Linden, Michigan; William Goodman, 52, of Bronx, New York; and Joan Bell, 74, of Montague, New Jersey, with federal civil rights offenses in connection with an alleged reproductive health care clinic invasion in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 22, 2020. The defendants were charged with conspiracy against rights and a FACE Act offense.

The indictment, returned by a federal grand jury in the District of Columbia, alleges that the nine defendants engaged in a conspiracy to create a blockade at the reproductive health care clinic to prevent the clinic from providing, and patients from receiving, reproductive health services. According to the indictment, as part of the conspiracy, Smith, Harlow, Marshall, Hinshaw, Idoni, Goodman and Bell traveled to Washington, D.C. from various northeast and midwestern states, to participate in a clinic blockade that was directed by Handy and was broadcast on Facebook by Darnel. According to the indictment, Handy, Smith, Harlow, Marshall, Hinshaw, Idoni, Goodman and Bell forcefully entered the clinic and set about blockading two clinic doors using their bodies, furniture, chains and ropes. Once the blockade was established, Darnel live-streamed footage of his co-defendants’ activities. The indictment also alleges that the nine defendants violated the FACE Act by using a physical obstruction to injure, intimidate and interfere with the clinic’s employees and a patient, because they were providing or obtaining reproductive health services.

If convicted of the offenses, the defendants each face up to a maximum of 11 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $350,000.

The case is being investigated by the FBI’s Washington Field Office. The case is being prosecuted by the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division and the Public Corruption and Civil Rights Section of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia. The U.S. Attorneys’ Offices for the District of New Jersey, District of Massachusetts, Eastern District of Michigan, Eastern District of New York, and Southern District of New York; and FBI Field Offices in Newark, New York City, Boston, and Detroit provided valuable assistance.

An indictment is merely an allegation of criminal conduct, and not evidence of guilt. The defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

UPDATED TEXTS FROM WILL GOODMAN:

My statement:
“We keep in mind, when we engage in Christian nonviolence, we must be prepared to be treated similarly to the persecuted preborn. And Christ Jesus Himself.
But this is a good thing.
As Joan Andrews Bell had said, ‘the closer we get to the preborn, the more our lives will be aligned with theirs. This will help bring the evils out of the shadows, and move the innocent victims closer to justice.’
Our mission is always Win/Win!
When we are free it’s a win, because we can defend life directly and rescue more.
When we are unjustly arrested or imprisoned, its a win, because we enter into the Passion of Jesus and can offer our small suffering in union with His for the salvation of souls, reparation for sin, and defense of life.
Everything is in God’s directed will or permitting will.
We are always in His loving Hands.”

and

“According to FBI Agent Kearney in NY, none of the rescuers were given a court date or notices to appear.
If i understand correctly, the federal judge can simply impose a warrent of arrest (per the DOJ prosecutor’s request?) after the Grand Jury indictment is unsealed.
Questions:
Why were we not made aware of the pending federal charges?
Why were we not made aware of the grand jury?
Why were we not notified by the federal courts to report before a judge?
Why was the FBI sent out to multiple locations around the country to make arrests and literally knock down doors at 5am?!
Who in DOJ and FBI leadership made the call on all of these matters?
[Biden’s DOJ??]
It seems the proabortion feds cant afford an envelope, letter, and stamp. But they can afford to mobilize FBI agents in a 7 state dragnet operation, which included sending 3 or 4 huge shiny black SUVs to arrest a 73 year old woman with health troubles in the peace of her home!
This is not acceptable.
No one was a flight risk.
No one was violent.
They didnt want to send a letter or email. They wanted to send a message- defending life will not be tolerated by this administration which worships at the unholy altar of child sacrifice.”
