There is some historical evidence that suggests St. Thomas the Apostle went not only to India, but all the way to China. At the latest, we know there were Christians in China from AD 600 forward. Since then, they have been few in percentages but great in suffering for Jesus Christ. The persecution of Catholics in China peaked in the 20th century under the Boxer Rebellion and Mao’s Red China.
But in 1957, the Communists tried a new move in establishing the “Chinese Patriotic Catholic Association.” This was an attempt to mimic the hierarchy of the true Catholic Church in China and win souls to the newly formed “Patriotic Church.” They would prove themselves loyal to Communism under the pretext of following Christ. Pope Pius XII explained this diabolical imitation of the true Chinese Catholic hierarchy in his encyclical Ad Apostolorum Principis that he addressed to the faithful in China:
For by particularly subtle activity an association has been created among you to which has been attached the title of “patriotic,” and Catholics are being forced by every means to take part in it. This association – as has often been proclaimed – was formed ostensibly to join the clergy and the faithful in love of their religion and their country, with these objectives in view: that they might foster patriotic sentiments; that they might advance the cause of international peace; that they might accept that species of socialism which has been introduced among you and, having accepted it, support and spread it; that, finally, they might actively cooperate with civil authorities in defending what they describe as political and religious freedom. And yet – despite these sweeping generalizations about defense of peace and the fatherland, which can certainly deceive the unsuspecting – it is perfectly clear that this association is simply an attempt to execute certain well defined and ruinous policies. For under an appearance of patriotism, which in reality is just a fraud, this association aims primarily at making Catholics gradually embrace the tenets of atheistic materialism, by which God Himself is denied and religious principles are rejected.–Pope Pius XII, Ad Apostolorum Principis paragraphs 10-11.
The apparent dual-hierarchies ruling over Catholics in China existed side-by-side for the 20th century. The real bishops and priests remained faithful to Rome while the “Patriotic Church” let the CCP call the shots over the faithful and appointments in their hierarchy.
In 2007, Pope Benedict XVI complained that some of the leaders of the “Patriotic Church” were “not even baptized” in his Letter to the Faithful of China:
In recent years, for various reasons, you, my Brother Bishops, have encountered difficulties, since persons who are not “ordained”, and sometimes not even baptized, control and take decisions concerning important ecclesial questions, including the appointment of Bishops, in the name of various State agencies… Communion and unity – let me repeat – are essential and integral elements of the Catholic Church: therefore the proposal for a Church that is “independent” of the Holy See, in the religious sphere, is incompatible with Catholic doctrine.—Pope Benedict XVI, Letter to Chinese Catholics, paragraph 8.
Notice that even as late as 2007, Pope Benedict XVI insisted that Marxists creating a so-called “Catholic community” without union with the Holy See would be “incompatible with Catholic doctrine.” How then could Marxists destroy the Catholic Church in China? Only by taking over the Holy See. That would be the completion of infiltration from within. And that is exactly what happened on that dark day in March of 2013.
A few years later, in 2018, the Marxists in the Vatican commanded power be removed from the true Catholic hierarchy in China (the underground or true Church) and all power be given to the “Patriotic Catholic Church.” This was an unbelievable act of betrayal that left good Chinese bishops and priests not only powerless, but even homeless.
When this happened in 2018, Cardinal Zen (seen above with Pope Benedict XVI) explained: “They are delivering the whole administration of the Church into the hands of the so-called ‘Patriotic Association,’ which is just a puppet in the hands of the government. And so it’s a complete surrender. It’s incredible.”
Notice again the Vatican executed a “complete surrender” of the faithful in China into the hands of the Chinese Communist Party—infamous for killing Christians. These are the red killers to whom the hijacked-Vatican gave full power to in China in 2018. It’s proof that leftists hate the true faith.
Despite the outrage from not only Catholics but even evangelicals, the Vatican still plans on renewing the pact with the communists yet again. LifeSite News reported earlier this summer: “Cardinal Pietro Parolin says the Vatican continues to ‘dialogue’ with Communist China and plans to renew its secretive deal with Beijing yet again, despite the widely criticized deal leading to increased persecution of the faithful Church in China.” Cdl. Parolin is quoted in that same article, saying: “We are trying to find the best procedures also for the application of the Agreement signed at the time and which will be renewed at the end of this year.”
In other words, Rome is renewing the pact with the Chinese communists, despite the resentment and shock of Christians across the globe that the Vatican would openly betray the persecuted Church in China. It’s truly apocalyptic.
Earlier in this summer of 2024, Dr. Taylor Marshall asked Archbishop Viganó the following question: “What was McCarrick’s role in the China-Vatican deal?” Archbishop Viganó indicated that money and abuse-based corruption were the two links fueling the now-apostate Vatican to both Washington DC and Beijing in his answer:
Despite the fact that accusations against McCarrick’s scandalous conduct were already well known and that disciplinary measures had been taken against him by Pope Benedict, Bergoglio instructed the then-Cardinal to maintain contact with the Beijing government, also because of his connections to the White House and with the Democrat establishment that had – and still has – relations with the Chinese dictatorship. McCarrick’s ability to “monetize” the Church’s collaboration with certain members of the Chinese government led to the signing of a secret agreement, which according to some rumors – which I am unable to verify – brings millions into the Vatican every year, in exchange for its silence about the persecution of Catholics who are faithful to the Apostolic See and about human rights violations.
The Vatican during the 20th century protected the underground Catholic Church of China. But over the last ten years, the Vatican protected the “Patriotic Church” of China. Because Jesus said “What you do to the least of my people, you do to me,” I believe today’s apostate-imposter is as evil as Judas. The only difference is there’s a lot more money involved than thirty pieces of silver.
