Today is the Feast of the Holy Innocents, and many American Catholics link this Feast day to ending abortion.  They are right to do so, but most are missing the underlying problems and solutions.  First of all, 89% of Novus Ordo Mass (NOM) Catholics believe there is no problem in using contraception.  This means most American Catholic couples are on the Pill.   This is a huge problem considering “The Pill” Kills More Than Surgicals.  Even most NOM priests who preach two or three pro-life sermons a year will not preach against the widespread contraception-use among their flock.

This means:
1) Surgical abortions in this country will not end until NOM Catholics get off the Pill, as we can’t expect the general population of a post-Christian country to have higher morals than Catholics.
AND
2) Catholic priests could stop millions of Catholics from using the Pill, but they don’t.
AND
3) Priests who choose not to preach for the salvation of their 89%-contraception-using flock will probably be held accountable by God at their particular judgment for being complicit in the abortion agency.

Wait, abortion-agency or contraception-agency? Both. This is because the Pill kills more babies than surgical abortions, so they’re one-in-the-same.  And if you look at my blog linked above, I’m not talking about the “Morning After Pill.”  I’m saying the daily Oral Contraceptive (OC) and Hormonal Birth Control (HBC) is killing a billion embryos (read: new individuals) every year across the globe.  And most Catholic women in the United States are on the OC or HBC.

Yes, I did preach in charity and modesty from the pulpit to get women off the OC and HBC when I was in the NOM world. I ruffled some feathers and got moved a lot, but I’m still alive, now reaching many more souls with this message of life. So, dear priests, it’s worth getting your couples off the Pill. Many will listen to you. Many will not.  But my point here is that God is faithful to Divine Providence, even through your enemies, as He has been in my life.  Speaking the truth in charity is always worth the risk.

A lot is at stake.  Consider what Fr. Frank Pavone once stated about his late friend, the converted Jewish abortion doctor, Bernard Nathanson, who killed 75,000 children but later became a baptized-Catholic and produced a video on babies crying during abortion called The Silent Scream.  Fr. Pavone said this of him:

“Dr. Bernard Nathanson, whom I knew personally, and who was a key architect of the abortion industry, said he succeeded only because the Church was asleep. To end abortion, the Church must awaken, and that’s why this book is so important.”—Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director, Priests for Life.

Notice in the quote above that Dr. Bernard Nathanson is saying the same thing as me, but in a less specific way.  So, I am saying this specifically:  Most Catholic priests could stop abortion, but they choose not to, probably because of laziness in their study or people-pleasing in their pastoral-approach.  Very few Catholic priests who preach a rah-rah sermon against abortion every 28th of December in honor of the Holy Innocents will suggest from the pulpit that their parishioners get off the deadly Pill.  Thus, I believe until Catholics get off the Pill, Americans as-a-whole stand no chance at eradicating surgical abortions.
