Shortly following the so-called “leak” that the Supreme Court of the United States may vote to overturn Roe vs. Wade (the non-law saying it was “legal” to kill unborn children from 1973) a group of vandals defaced Sacred Heart of Mary (Boulder County, CO above in featured image) with pro-abortion and anti-Catholic phrases. The news of the possible re-vote and the vandalism both took place in the first week of May 2022.
Yesterday, I called the pastor of Sacred Heart of Mary and I was moved that he had such a view of the triumph (not defeat) of the cross in all of these events. After we spoke on the phone, he texted me his thoughts (with permission to publish) that summed up our edifying conversation: “Just like in the Acts of the Apostles: when they spoke the Truth the people ground their teeth and stopped their ears. They then acted out in violence on the disciples, but the disciple rejoiced and continued the mission our Lord gave them. Over the 2000 years it is still the same. We will continue the mission of Christ, bringing the Truth to the world despite the violence.”
Here is some of the scene of the crime:
The pro-abort vandals who did in 2022 this probably did not know that 5,000 aborted children were currently buried in the parish’s own private cemetery back in 2005. Here’s what happened: In 2005, the then-pastor (different from the current pastor) found out that the late-term abortion center in Boulder (run by Warren Hern) was cutting-corners financially to not have the babies he murdered disposed by a normal stericycle unit, but rather that a funeral home was cheaper! One of the directors of the funeral home notified the Catholic priest, and they began having private funeral Masses for the dead babies, not unlike the events that recently happened to my friends as I reported here. But back in 2005, the priest intercepted 5,000 dead children killed in at least one location in Boulder, CO. They received a proper burial at what Sacred Heart of Mary now calls “The Wall,” a beautiful place of honoring the dead-unborn buried there. When the child-killer Warren Hern found out about this, he was infuriated as reported by Catholic News Agency here. They reported, “Dr. Warren Hern, who runs the Boulder Abortion Clinic, where the aborted remains originated, blasted the parish.”
I knew that pastor then and I know the current pastor. Both are very pro-life men. And I have seen Warren Hern at my time praying at his killing-center that will kill babies full-term. We pray for Mr. Hern’s conversion to Christ and to life. God can forgive him, even still.
As I wrote, the vandals of 2022 probably did not know that 5,000 aborted babies were buried at Sacred Heart of Mary Church way back in 2005. But God did when He allowed such a horrible defacing of a Catholic Church. (This is where we must delineate between God’s positive will and permissive will, of course.) But both fall under God’s sovereignty, and there may be a message to send to us in this: That an attack on the unborn is an attack on Christ. Also, an attack on the Church is especially an attack on Christ. But it is through the cross that we come to the resurrection if we heed carefully these words of Our Savior: Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”—Mt 25:44-46.
